Arizona Republic Misrepresents Birth Certificate Investigation

MEDIA CONTINUES TO OBSCURE THE ISSUE OF FORGERY

by Sharon Rondeau

As of noon on Friday, this image posted at whitehouse.gov purported to represent Obama’s original birth certificate from Hawaii will likely disappear

(Jan. 19, 2017) — In article on Thursday detailing Maricopa County Sheriff Paul Penzone‘s “100-Days Plan,” The Arizona Republic reported that Penzone, who was sworn in on January 1, will disband the Cold Case Posse which investigated the authenticity of the long-form birth certificate image posted by the White House in April 2011.
Penzone’s predecessor, Sheriff Joseph Arpaio, commissioned the investigation at the request of 242 constituents after reports of forgery surfaced shortly after the image was uploaded at whitehouse.gov.
In 2012, when Penzone first challenged Arpaio for the position, he stated that the investigation was a waste of resources and would be terminated if he were to win.
The Cold Case Posse appears to be the only volunteer posse out of dozens associated with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) which Penzone says he will abolish.
ABC15 reported Penzone as having said, “Their privileges are either suspended or removed as a posse member. They will receive a formal notification from this organization that they no longer have that right to represent as a member or an extension of it.”
It is The Post & Email’s understanding that most Cold Case Posse members had already resigned before Penzone’s press conference Thursday.
The Republic additionally reported:
The purpose of the investigation was not to discover Obama’s birthplace, as so many mainstream media outlets have erroneously reported, but rather, to investigate the authenticity of the long-form birth certificate image bearing the name “Barack Hussein Obama II.”
The Associated Press and Washington Post have also misrepresented the purpose of the investigation.  While still in office, Arpaio expressed astonishment at a national media corps which maintained a virtual blackout on the findings of forgery and fraud first made public in March 2012.
Two press conferences held that year revealed that the evidence gathered to date demonstrated that the birth certificate image was inauthentic.  Instead of asking questions or launching their own probes, the media lashed out at the messengers.
If by “accusations,” The Republic is referring to reports that Obama was born outside of the country, a number of credible articles issued by the AP and NPR, among others, were altered after Obama announced his presidential candidacy in 2007 to say that he was born in Hawaii, not in Kenya or Indonesia as they had previously reported.
Obama’s former literary agent did the same in April 2007 after reporting that he was “born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii” for the previous 16 years.
The posse’s task was not to determine where Obama was born, but rather, whether or not the birth certificate image were authentic.
Article II, Section 1, clause 5 of the U.S. Constitution requires the president to be a “natural born Citizen.”  The media has continued to attempt to convince the public that questions about Obama’s birthplace are misplaced while failing to emphasize that investigators concluded that the forgery of a sitting president’s birth record had been executed and posted “with the intent to deceive.”
At the first press conference on March 1, 2012, along with the birth certificate image, lead investigator Mike Zullo announced that Obama’s purported Selective Service registration form was found to be fraudulent.  Federal law dictates that any male seeking employment within the federal government must have properly and timely registered with the Selective Service System.
The Arizona Republic noticeably did not report the results of the third and final press conference on December 15 during which Arpaio and Zullo demonstrated that nine points of forgery were confirmed by two forensics analysts to have been lifted from the long-form birth certificate of another individual born in Hawaii 16 days after Obama’s purported birth there.
The analysts, located in Hawaii and Italy, respectively, approached the image from two different disciplines but reached the same conclusion.
Following the December 15 presser, Arpaio announced that the evidence gathered would be turned over to federal authorities and Congress.
On Thursday afternoon, Arpaio tweeted a photo of his presence at the Lincoln Memorial for the “Make America Great Again Celebration” marking the eve of the inauguration of Donald J. Trump, who ironically was the first prominent American to put a voice to the question as to whether or not Obama was constitutionally eligible to serve.
Trump took credit for the release of the image on April 27, 2011 but subsequently decided not to run for president in 2012.
In June 2015, Trump announced his candidacy for president, after which many in the media refused to take him seriously.  Unwilling to consider him a serious candidate, The Huffington Post first placed news of his campaign in its “Entertainment” section and assigned a number of pejoratives to his persona which it removed once he won the November 8 election.
On Wednesday, Arpaio, 84, tweeted that the Trump inaugural committee had extended an invitation to him to attend the festivities in Washington, DC.
Early in the birth certificate investigation, Zullo and Arpaio stated that they had identified the computer from which the fraudulent image was uploaded on April 27, 2011.  A suspect has not yet been named.
Whether or not Trump’s FBI or Department of Justice will launch an investigation into the reported forgeries is yet to be seen.
